Dr. Daniel Bullock

Dr. Daniel Bullock completed his Ph.D. in neuroscience and psychology at Indiana University in 2021, followed by a one-year postdoctoral position at the University of Minnesota. His research focused on topics related to the organization of the brain's white matter, and the development of computational services and code for the segmentation of white matter. His products (using MATLAB and Python) relating to these endeavors are released open source and are available on GitHub. Prior to this work, Bullock majored in biology, with minors in math and genetics, at North Carolina State University; majored in philosophy and psychology, with a minor in cognitive science, at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and pursued graduate study in philosophy of mind (focusing on mental representation) at the University of Cincinnati.
Bullock's work producing computational code and services made salient the extreme importance of open-source code, open data, and accessible and integrated computer resources. Furthermore, as an involved member of graduate student and university governance at Indiana University, he recognized the substantial potential for impact when working with institutional stakeholders. As such, he is excited about his forthcoming work with NSF's Office of Advanced Cyberinfrastructure fostering resources for more robust and easily accessible data analysis and usage ecosystems.
