This week with NSF Director Panchanathan


From engaging with national leaders on the importance of enhancing STEM innovation and education in the U.S. to welcoming international counterparts for discussions on deepening collaborative research, this week U.S. National Science Foundation Director Sethuraman Panchanathan worked to foster a globally connected and resilient scientific and engineering enterprise. 

To highlight the release of the 2024 Science and Engineering Indicators report, Director Panchanathan joined leaders from the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, the National Science Board, and the National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics at the White House.
To highlight the release of the 2024 Science and Engineering Indicators report, Director Panchanathan joined leaders from the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, the National Science Board, and the National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics at the White House. Director Panchanathan spoke of the need to reverse several concerning trends identified in this report, accelerate American science and engineering innovation and unleash the potential of the "missing millions" by investing in STEM education, industry and infrastructure for everyone across the nation. The director welcomed the Science and Technology advisor to the prime minister and Japan Science and Technology president Kazuhito Hashimototo NSF headquarters. Discussions centered around exploring and advancing collaborative international research activities. NSF, in collaboration with the Japan Science and Technology Agency, is working toward advancing research collaboration and spurring innovation in a range of topics from human-centered data for disaster resilience to critical and emerging technologies.
