Important information for proposers

All proposals must be submitted in accordance with the requirements specified in this funding opportunity and in the NSF Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide (PAPPG) that is in effect for the relevant due date to which the proposal is being submitted. It is the responsibility of the proposer to ensure that the proposal meets these requirements. Submitting a proposal prior to a specified deadline does not negate this requirement.

S-STEM: SAM Unique Entity Identifiers and S-STEM deadlines

Effective February 28, 2022, the National Science Foundation (NSF) began using the new System for Award Management (SAM) issued Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) in Research.gov. This update was made in accordance with the government-wide transition on April 4, 2022, away from the use of the DUNS number and toward the new SAM UEI as the primary means of entity identification for Federal awards. The Proposal and Award Policies and Procedures Guide (PAPPG) document requires institutions to have a SAM.GOV UEI in order to submit proposals. Institutions not ready to submit by the proposal submission deadline will need to wait until next year's cycle.  Please refer to the guidance in the PAPPG: https://beta.nsf.gov/policies/pappg/23-1/ch-1-pre-submission#1G2
