NSF Engines Announces Type-2 Award Deadlines
The U.S. National Science Foundation’s Regional Innovation Engines, or NSF Engines, program updated its funding opportunity today to include deadlines for Type-2 awards.
Type-2 Awards Deadlines
- Letters of Intent: Due December 15, 2022, at 5 p.m., submitter’s local time
- Full Proposals: Due January 31, 2023, at 5 p.m., submitter’s local time
Type-2 awards fund Engines across three distinct phases—the Nascent, Emergent and Growth Phases. The primary goal of an NSF Engine is to grow a region’s innovation capacity, and throughout the three phases the Engine:
Creates firm partner and stakeholder networks and strategic commitments;
Seeks continuing growth of its innovation ecosystem through expansion of science, technology, education, and workforce development; and
Helps its regional innovation ecosystem emerge as a national leader in its topic area during the Growth Phase.
These organizational types are encouraged to submit proposals for the NSF Engines program:
U.S. accredited institutions of higher education with a campus located in the U.S.;
U.S.-based non-profit organizations; and
U.S.-based for-profit organizations.
In addition to the above, federally funded research and development centers, national laboratories, and state, local, and tribal governments (limited to agencies, offices, or divisions specifically dedicated to innovation, economic and/or workforce development) can receive NSF funds through subawards.
