Presentation on OIA Programs and Activities at the ASEE Engineering Research Council

About this event

The Engineering Research Council of the ASEE exists to support and enhance research in engineering, technology, computing and applied science in educational organizations.

Change, transitions, budget cuts - as we head into 2009 with a new federal administration, we will see substantial changes in the priorities for engineering research and the funding available to conduct it.  Join the ASEE Engineering Research Council for its annual conference to hear from the leaders of our federal funding agencies and research funding advocacy groups to learn first hand about the changes we will be facing and how you can adapt to maintain active and productive University research programs.

In addition to plenary presentations from leaders at NIH, DOD, DOE, and NSF, we will have numerous agencies and their program managers in attendance during two exhibit sessions where you can speak directly with individuals from these and other agencies.  An afternoon of panel speakers will address the specific issue of energy - "What is the Roadmap to our Energy Future:  A Guide for Universities."  Non-federal agency perspectives on the current state of research funding and directions will be provided by Kei Koizumi, Director, R&D Budget and Policy Program at AAAS and Robert S. Boege, the Executive Director of ASTRA, the Alliance for Science & Technology Research.
