AGU Antarctic Sciences Division Town Hall Meeting

About this event

New funding opportunities and activities are under way in the Antarctic sciences. At this session, ongoing Antarctic research opportunities and cross-directorate activities under NSF's Science, Engineering, and Education for Sustainability (SEES) portfolio (topics inclusive of Earth system modeling, ocean acidification, biodiversity, and related education partnerships) will be discussed.

Updates will be provided on the National Research Council Study, Review of the U.S. Antarctic Program: Future science opportunities in the Antarctic and Southern Ocean that will inform a Blue Ribbon Panel review of U.S. Antarctic Program infrastructure, as well as the UNOLS Polar Research Vessel Committee Science Mission Requirements Refresh Project. Division program officers will be available for discussions and we hope to introduce new program officers to the community.

The Town Hall will be held during the 2011 Fall Meeting of the American Geophysical Union in San Francisco, California, at the Moscone Center, Moscone West, Room 2004.  The Fall AGU Meeting is from 5 December through 9 December 2011.
