On May 10, 1950, Congress established the National Science Foundation “to promote the progress of science, to advance the national health, prosperity, and welfare; and to secure the national defense.” This year marks the 70th anniversary of NSF’s founding. To celebrate seven decades of funding the best and brightest ideas that have transformed our lives and established the U.S. as a science and technology leader, we invite you to participate in several initiatives and help communicate and celebrate the critical role that federal funding of basic science contributes toward innovation, discovery, the STEM workforce and society.
